Cade Foundation Family

#GIVINGTUESDAY

There are so many ways that you can give and support organizations. Today, on #givingtuesday, I want to highlight a foundation that is touching the lives of so many families. I have shared publicly about my journey and healing process after having miscarriages. Dr. Camille Hammond, Co-Founder of the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation made herself available to encourage and offer me resources as I navigated my losses. Her personal journey and passion to provide support to families navigating infertility has been so inspiring. Truly before hearing her story, I really wasn’t aware of how many people experience miscarriages or infertility problems. For more information about her journey and the foundation please visit cadefoundation.org

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to coordinate a fashion presentation for the Cade Foundation Annual Family Building Gala at the French Embassy. The fashion presentation was an interactive fashion experience for guests during the cocktail hour. The designers that were featured were C-Padaci and Turq and Lo.

"The 2018 Cade Foundation Family Building Gala is our opportunity to recognize the outstanding work of the organizations and individuals throughout the nation supporting families OVERCOMING infertility. This year we will recognize new Family Building Grant recipients, and celebrate the contributions of Family Building Champions!"

The gala featured Live Music, Silent Auction, Open Bar, and a Seated Dinner Program. The Theme for the Gala was Family Fashion and OVERCOMING infertility! I hope you enjoy a few pictures from the Gala. Please consider donating on this #givingtuesday to the Cade Foundation to help multiply their efforts in supporting families. Also, as you go online for holiday shopping, please consider shopping at smile.amazon.com and designating the Tinina Q. Cade foundation as your charity of choice so they can receive a donation from Amazon for every purchase.

"The foundation was named after founders’ (Drs Jason and Camille Hammond) mother, Dr Tinina Cade. Dr Cade carried and delivered the couples triplets following 5 years of infertility for the Hammonds. She delivered her grand-triplets at 55 years old, making her the oldest woman to deliver triplets at that point." cadefoundation.org

Buffalo Plaid, Fashion Tights, and OTK Boots!

I feel one with nature in my buffalo plaid, fashion tights, and over-the-knee boots. The nature part might not be so true, but I am one with plaid. I love me some plaid. Underneath my plaid coat is an oversized black hoodie. The hoodie is so warm and cozy… a great layering piece for fall or winter. I am a firm believer that comfy clothes don’t have to be sloppy clothes. The heavily adopted athleisure wear has created more options for comfort. The over the knee boots paired with the hoodie elevates the outfit to create a more chic/edgy look, especially with the fashion tights. The black fashion tights were a fun print to add a little quirkiness to the outfit.

My buffalo plaid jacket was a gift from my sister. She purchased the jacket from Old Navy as a Christmas gift, but I didn't get it from her until almost the following Christmas. That just goes to show that this particular jacket style and print can stand the test of time. The jacket is definitely going to be staple in my fall/winter wardrobe. The black hoodie was a great steal from the JC Penney clearance rack. The black OTK boots are by Marc Fisher, and were purchased during the spring at a great sale. I love buying my boots at the end of season to catch a great deal. But, if you decide wait to wait, the sizes can be limited. I don’t remember where I purchased the tights but, I have seen similar options at Target, JC Penney, and Kohls.
