Fashion meets Faith

Psalm 37

3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

On December 13, 2013, I launched my business Fathia Savory. I wanted to start this business years ago, but allowed everything to get in the way. I struggled with the idea of the fashion industry being a field that I could serve and please God. I believe that my faith isn't just for church but is something that should reflect in every aspect of my life. People would talk so negatively about loving fashion... "fashion is so materialistic". These thoughts echoed in my head, and I began to give up on my passion and dream.

I prayed to God and shared my stuggles with friends and a mentor. God began to reveal scripture (Proverbs 31) about my gifts and entreprenuership. He placed me in a position in which I shared my love for fashion with women at church events. I established relationships with teens through our talks about the latest fashion trends. God began to really open doors, and I had a loving husband who prayed and supported me.

As my business formed. I knew that I would operate with Christian principles, but I wanted to make it known publicly. Sharing your faith through your business can get sketchy, especially in a world where they want to take Christ out of everything. I prayed and sought wisdom about the best way to share my faith. Sometimes, we think too much about how we are going to offend people, and not enough about honoring God. I have since been including scripture on my website and facebook, as well as inviting people to know Christ, and join a church family. And more recently, God has put on my heart to include this blog on my website.
